TAMPA — The Florida Democratic Party has named Kimberly Overman, Democratic Nominee in Florida’s 12th Congressional District, to its 2026 Take Back Florida slate, a group of 45 candidates competing up and down the ballot this fall.
Since the programs launched in 2024, candidates have received sustained grassroots organizing and fundraising support from the party, support that will continue through the November elections.
“These 45 candidates represent the strength and depth of our bench,” said Florida Democratic Party Chair Nikki Fried. “They’re proven leaders, first-time candidates, veterans, and community advocates who understand that trust is earned by showing up and doing the work. From protecting the incumbents who have consistently fought for their constituents, to backing new candidates ready to flip red seats blue, to building power in school board and city commission races that shape our communities every day, this slate reflects what it takes to win.
Fried continued: “They’re knocking doors, making calls, and talking directly with voters about the issues that impact their lives, and with the right investment and support, we’re going to win up and down the ballot this November as we Take Back Florida.”

About Kimberly
Kimberly Overman is a mom, a grandmother, a small business owner, and a public servant with deep roots in Florida’s 12th District. She’s running for Congress because she believes leadership should be about listening, showing up, and delivering real solutions—not playing politics or chasing headlines.
Raised in a working-class family that faced housing insecurity, Kimberly learned early what it means to struggle—and to persevere. Her mother juggled multiple jobs to keep the family afloat, and those early experiences shaped Kimberly’s lifelong commitment to fairness, opportunity, and economic justice.
Over the years, Kimberly has worn many hats: she put herself through college, earned her Certified Financial Planner designation, and built a successful advisory firm focused on ethical financial guidance. She’s volunteered in her community for decades, applying her background in economics and planning to real-world challenges—especially around housing, transportation, and sustainability.
As a Hillsborough County Commissioner from 2018 to 2022, Kimberly delivered during some of the region’s most challenging moments. She led during the COVID-19 pandemic, championing emergency support for small businesses, childcare providers, and vulnerable residents. She pushed for expanded public health programs, affordable housing initiatives, and more equitable infrastructure investment.
But what sets Kimberly apart isn’t just her experience—it’s her empathy. As a mother and grandmother, she knows what’s at stake for the next generation. She understands what families are facing because she’s lived it: the high cost of care, the fear of unexpected bills, the frustration with a system that too often leaves people behind.
In Washington, Kimberly will bring a grounded, no-nonsense approach to leadership—focused on solutions, service, and building a future where everyone has a fair shot.

Kimberly Overman is a former Hillsborough County Commissioner and longtime Tampa Bay resident running for Congress in Florida’s 12th District. She has called the Tampa Bay region home for over 40 years. Kimberly brings decades of experience in financial planning and public service. She previously held the Certified Financial Planner professional designation and retired it when she retired from practice.
Kimberly served as a Hillsborough County Commissioner (District 7 At‐Large) from 2018 to 2022, where she championed affordable housing, transportation equity, and public health initiatives and delivered results for the community. Her leadership style is grounded in listening, coalition‐building, and solving real problems.
She is running for Congress to bring accountable, people‐first leadership to Washington—and to fight for economic opportunity, affordable health care, and a government that works for the people it serves.
